Static communication boards are one of our most popular visual communication aids. Designed by specialist Speech and Language Therapists, our high-quality communication boards support inclusive communication and help people express their wants, needs, choices, thoughts and feelings.

We offer both bespoke communication boards and universal communication boards, providing flexible communication support for schools, organisations, public spaces, community settings and recreational environments.

Bespoke Communication Boards

Our bespoke communication boards are carefully designed around your individual setting, environment and communication needs. We create relevant symbols and select vocabulary to reflect your organisation and help people communicate effectively within that specific space.

Universal Communication Boards

Our universal communication boards are designed for use across a wide range of settings. They provide practical, accessible communication support using carefully selected everyday vocabulary and can be used in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.

What do our communication board packages include?

Our communication board packages provide much more than high-quality visual communication support. Using carefully selected vocabulary and symbols designed by our specialist Speech and Language Therapy team, we create communication aids that are accessible, inclusive and tailored to your setting.

Our packages include:

  • Specialist design and carefully chosen vocabulary to support effective, meaningful communication.

  • Our unique Spark Symbols©, which are clear, inclusive and user-friendly, supporting individuals of all ages and communication abilities.

  • Training and ongoing support to help you confidently introduce and use your communication board within your organisation.

  • Bespoke symbol design, where required. If we do not already have a symbol that reflects your unique business, environment or service, we can create one for you.

Many Spark Symbols© incorporate familiar signs, symbols and gestures that people encounter in everyday life. This makes them intuitive, easy to understand and accessible to a wide range of users.

Our Communication Boards in the community

We are proud to see our communication boards helping to make public spaces more accessible, inclusive and communication-friendly.

Our partnership with Midsummer Place introduced a large shopping communication board alongside portable communication boards within sensory bags. Together, these resources provide practical support for visitors to communicate their needs, choices and feelings while enjoying a day out.

Shopping centres can be busy, noisy and overwhelming environments. For people with speech, language and communication needs, this can sometimes make it more difficult to express themselves, ask for help or communicate what they need. Communication boards provide a visible and accessible way to support communication in the moment, helping people to feel more confident, independent and included.

This project demonstrates how small, thoughtful changes can make a meaningful difference. By making communication support available in everyday community spaces, organisations can help create environments where more people feel welcome, understood and able to participate.

Portable Communication Boards

Our portable communication boards provide flexible, practical communication support wherever it is needed. They are printed on durable, wipe-clean material that is resistant to tearing and designed to withstand everyday use — including the most energetic play activities!

Our universal Forest School communication board has been specially designed for outdoor learning and play. It is weatherproof, durable and ready to use, providing an accessible communication tool for Forest Schools, outdoor classrooms, nature-based settings and a wide range of outdoor environments.

With carefully selected vocabulary and clear Spark Symbols©, our portable communication boards help children and adults communicate their wants, needs, choices and ideas while learning, playing and exploring.

Training Packages

Workforce Training

We are passionate about empowering others to support people with speech, language and communication needs.

Our flexible training offer ranges from QR codes on selected communication boards, linking to practical demonstrations, through to more detailed training in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

Using our combined specialist knowledge and experience, we create practical, engaging training packages that help your whole workforce feel confident introducing communication support and implementing meaningful changes within your setting.

We can also provide bespoke training for your team to learn signs that complement the symbols and vocabulary used on your communication board.

Signing

Throughout our careers, we have used signing to support thousands of children, young people and their families. We have received training in British Sign Language (BSL) and Signalong, giving us a broad understanding of different signing approaches.

This knowledge enables us to work with you to identify the most appropriate approach for your individual setting. We can also provide guidance and training on signs that complement the vocabulary and symbols used within your communication boards.
